Our Constitution

Scripture Alone is breathed out by God.
Scripture Alone is inerrant (incapable of error).
Scripture Alone is infallible (free from error).
Scripture Alone can bind man's conscience.

Yet God has given gifts by His Holy Spirit to His image bearers
to enable them, through diligent study and careful examination,
in private deliberation and public discussion with others of same like faith,
to lay precept beside precept and line beside line
so that others may enjoy the fruit of their labors
and more easily understand Him and better discern His will.

While in a very limited manner the work of man can be free from error,
no work of man is incapable of error. So, with the caveat that where
they agree with Scripture, we agree and where they differ, we differ,
and knowing that we ourselves are fallible in our judgments,
we present as summaries of the principle doctrines of the faith
and as useful guides for the Christian believer
the 1689 Confession of Faith, primarily,
and, supportingly, The Baptist Faith and Message.

For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ:
for it is the power of God unto salvation
to every one that believeth; to the Jew first,
and also to the Greek. - Romans 1:16

We are an established church with a new name and purpose. Formerly known as the Albuquerque Baptist Temple, we reorganized on May 17, 2000 as the Albuquerque Sovereign Grace Baptist Church.

We are small in size but not in heart.
"Then saith he unto his disciples,
The harvest truly is plenteous,
but the labourers are few;
Pray ye therefore the Lord of the harvest,
that he will send forth labourers into his harvest."
- Matthew 9:37f

Remember us in your prayers as we seek the Lord's face.
"For this cause we also,
since the day we heard it,
do not cease to pray for you,
and to desire that ye might be filled
with the knowledge of his will
in all wisdom and spiritual understanding;
that ye might walk worthy of the Lord unto all pleasing,
being fruitful in every good work,
and increasing in the knowledge of God;"
- Colossians 1:9f

"Now unto God and our Father
be glory for ever and ever.
Amen."- Philippians 4:20

Sola Scriptura (Scripture Alone) -- We believe that the Scripture alone is our ultimate authority, since it alone is without error and God-breathed. The Word of God is the only complete and sufficient Word for all things pertaining to life and godliness.

Sola Gratia (Grace Alone) -- We believe that all men have sinned and therefore, stand (naturally) condemned before God. Thus, all men will be resurrected (both the saved and lost) and judged. Therefore, salvation is entirely of the grace of God and is not caused by any merit of our own. In this gracious salvation the convicting, regenerating work of the Holy Spirit is absolutely necessary.

Sola Fide (Faith Alone) -- We believe that men are justified by faith alone and not by works in addition to faith. Yet, the faith by which we are saved is a living faith which works through love. It is preserved through the Holy Spirit, by whose indwelling the Christian is enabled to live a godly life, minister in the Body of Christ, and evangelize the lost.

Solo Christo (Christ Alone) -- We believe our Lord Jesus Christ to be both God (fully divine) and man (fully human), virgin-born, and sinless. In His earthly ministry He performed great miracles demonstrating the truth of His messianic claims. His death for us was sacrificial and completely atoned for the sin of all who believe. He was gloriously raised from the dead in the same body in which He died and ascended to the right hand of the Father. We believe in His present, as well as future victorious kingdom, and in His personal, visible return in power and glory. There is salvation in no one else since He alone provided for our righteous standing before a holy God.

Soli Deo Gloria (To God Alone Be the Glory) -- We believe that there is one God who eternally exists in three persons; Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. The triune God of Scripture is unlimited in power, all-knowing, and present throughout creation but not limited by it. In all things He is limited by nothing other than His own nature and character. He is holy, righteous, just, good, loving, and merciful. He is the Creator, Sustainer, and Governor of everything that has been made. Thus, we are to live continually before His face, consciously bringing every endeavor of life under His lordship. Therefore, His glory alone is the final purpose for all things.
